Hello and welcome to the Virginia weather lottery where you wake up in one season, spend the day in another and end it with yet another. Daily forecasts look more like vague wild guesses including a little bit of everything just in case. Today may be partly sunny, cloudy with a chance of rain, warming up midday and late this afternoon cooler air bringing the temps down to freezing with a chance of snow. Thundersnow is a possibility. Wear a coat, bring an umbrella and pack shorts and a tank top. Don’t forget your snow boots just in case. You will be cold, but also hot, but cold. The weather will be dry, but also wet and slippery. Last week we hit the 70s, today I am snuggled up under an electric blanket with my kitty cat. At least we are not in the teens.
The issue here is the fluctuations in weather make adjusting to the seasons a bit difficult and then we just suddenly hit high heat and don’t look back for months. The adjustment happens eventually, but the body is miserable for a few weeks in the process. Right now I feel as if I am freezing when in reality it is just below 60 and during winter we were regularly in the teens, but the fluctuations are making the 50s feel like the teens did to me in the peak of Winter. I have lived here the majority of my life and still, I am not used to it. While it sounds as if I am complaining the truth is this is my favorite time of year, the trees are almost fully rebloomed and green again, and oh how I have missed them. Everything is full of life again and beautiful and green and flourishing. The sky seems brighter somehow and all of the sleepy little critters are out again. I love the wildlife, I love the outdoors.
