Remember Yourself

Starting your morning with gratitude is a good goal, however, maintaining that throughout the day is a bit more tough. I am trying to take moments in the day when I am overwhelmed to reiterate that gratitude to help steer my focus back on track. Do not be discouraged or disheartened when some days just get the best of you. There are days like that and nothing you do will conquer it. Remember all of the days you were able to transform and know better days are ahead maybe even the next day.

Try and normalize taking a break even it is a short one. Take a break from responsibility and stress when you can, even if it’s just a short walk alone. Setting aside 30 minutes for afternoon tea and no interruptions. A half hour is not too much to ask for and can make a huge difference from time to time. Especially those of us who are caregivers in some capacity, it can all wait for 30 minutes, you are deserving of it. Taking care of ourselves is a priority often placed on the back-burner. you can give so much better of yourself, if you are taking care of yourself.

I was born and raised in the smallest of towns in Southwest Virginia. A town that is extraordinarily active, yet a town that is like it's very own little mini Bible belt. My dad was Baptist, my mom pentecostal, and I'm paranormal. I would venture to say it is somewhat of a family trait. One that is met with equal acceptance and curiosity as much as it is met with skepticism. Individually and collectively so much has been experienced and witnessed at times to such a degree that one might wonder how on earth there is room for doubt. I dont have all the answers, I do not have it all figured out. Im as human as everyone else relying heavily many mornings on a lot of coffee and a little Jesus. In fact, I can't decide what I want for dinner most days. One constant is I cannot go a single day without chocolate. Pour a cup of coffee, or a little tea and whiskey and join me in my confessions of a haunted freak.
