Be Your Own Best Friend

There’s a little buzz inside me, a spark, an ember getting fanned by some cosmic flame I can not see. I feel the warmth slowly building inside of me, what secrets do those embers hold, what fire burns there? Only time will tell, seeds are planted deep within us by forces unsee, and when we do things to water them they begin to sprout and take root and in time they make themselves known. I wonder still what it is, a piece of art, a story, an action? We change, we are fluid and ever-shifting. What blooms inside of you? Do you know what it is yet? Passion is undeniable, purpose is debatable. One recognizes the firey feeling of passion but purpose is more abstract. Please don’t spend your days agonizing over your purpose in life as if there is an assignment you were never given and an impending test you must pass without any information.

There is no assignment, no mission, no deep-seated secret for you to uncover. You are a human and to be human in all of its diversity and experiences is all you really need to do. This isn’t the age of Troy, there is no battle and grand defeat, there is no throne to conquer or takedown. You don’t have to cure cancer to have your experience matter and be notable. You can create endless ripples of change quietly. If you need recognition to feel accomplished perhaps you need to talk with yourself. Being a household name doesn’t make you better than you are when few know your name. Opinions come attached to your name whether it be from experience or assumption, I suggest that you get to know yourself and let not the opinion of others waiver your opinion of yourself. Speak kindly of yourself and treat yourself with respect. One day at a time, one thing at a time, and onward and upward you go.

I was born and raised in the smallest of towns in Southwest Virginia. A town that is extraordinarily active, yet a town that is like it's very own little mini Bible belt. My dad was Baptist, my mom pentecostal, and I'm paranormal. I would venture to say it is somewhat of a family trait. One that is met with equal acceptance and curiosity as much as it is met with skepticism. Individually and collectively so much has been experienced and witnessed at times to such a degree that one might wonder how on earth there is room for doubt. I dont have all the answers, I do not have it all figured out. Im as human as everyone else relying heavily many mornings on a lot of coffee and a little Jesus. In fact, I can't decide what I want for dinner most days. One constant is I cannot go a single day without chocolate. Pour a cup of coffee, or a little tea and whiskey and join me in my confessions of a haunted freak.
