You Matter

Happy Holidays to all, alone or together with family and friends, may it be blessed. If you are feeling sad this Holiday season remember it is only a season and it will pass. Hang on and hang in there for better days ahead, I know the struggle is hard and the road seems long and endless but all things pass, and hope still exists even if it’s in the deep crevices of your soul. Look inward and hold onto and acknowledge all that you are capable of all you have overcome in your life, you might be amazed at the warrior you are after all. Give yourself the acknowledgment and praise for every accomplishment no matter how seemingly small and know that you are amazing.

Rise from the ashes

We all go through sunsets and dark nights in our lives, don’t let the false images portrayed in the media and on social media fool you. Everyone has their flaws and secrets and trauma and hardships, if only we could see people’s truth more than the fictional depiction they sell. Sure, maybe to some they use that as optimism and goals, but for others, we can fall into the trap of comparison, but what are you comparing yourself to, is it the truth or an image? Remember that somewhere in your life you have and will make a difference. The ripples of our lives are not always obvious and many unsung heroes never cut through the afternoon news, but all that they did and all that will be affected by that deed will have a lasting impact even if the world didn’t know their name and the story that wasn’t widely told. Greatness comes in stealthy ways too, not just blinding acknowledgment. The point is that you do not pale in comparison and there is no comparison, there is no standard to meet or recognition that must be obtained for you to matter and make a difference.

It doesn’t matter if you have a huge home or no place to call home, for now, you still matter. You can still fight your way back. One thing at a time sweetheart, one thing, and rest as much as you need to find joy no matter how small. Spend the afternoon drawing in the sand, acknowledge the beautiful sunrise, breathe in deeply the air that defiantly fills your lungs and beckons you for more. What matters most is what you say to yourself not what others say about you and there is no better revenge than to rise from the ashes and prove them all wrong. I believe in you, you can do this, another day, another time. You matter to me.

I was born and raised in the smallest of towns in Southwest Virginia. A town that is extraordinarily active, yet a town that is like it's very own little mini Bible belt. My dad was Baptist, my mom pentecostal, and I'm paranormal. I would venture to say it is somewhat of a family trait. One that is met with equal acceptance and curiosity as much as it is met with skepticism. Individually and collectively so much has been experienced and witnessed at times to such a degree that one might wonder how on earth there is room for doubt. I dont have all the answers, I do not have it all figured out. Im as human as everyone else relying heavily many mornings on a lot of coffee and a little Jesus. In fact, I can't decide what I want for dinner most days. One constant is I cannot go a single day without chocolate. Pour a cup of coffee, or a little tea and whiskey and join me in my confessions of a haunted freak.
