Connecting

I took the time today to reach out to friends. I have become so reclusive unintentionally and caught up in the whirlwind day to day of life. Even if we can not align our lives and time to meet up, I can take the time to send messages and send love. It takes so little time to extend thoughts and kind words to those who have been a dear part of your life. It means a lot on both sides. I love and honor all of those who have been a part of this life’s journey through some of the worst and some of the best. Human connection is lacking so much in our day to day and though it may be small I intend to work on that.

Today is my mom’s birthday, she has always been and will always be one of the best human connections. We never know what tomorrow brings, who will still be here as the clock ticks down. Celebrate and love those in your life while you still can. You know what else I miss, Christmas cards, we don’t even send out cards to people anymore such a simple and inexpensive way to show we care. We send digital wishes and regards, but I love the handwritten cards, they make beautiful displays, and they are a little way of having those people with you on the Holidays. I love the uniqueness of people’s handwriting. It’s one of the many ways that we are unique. Just as a laugh is unique. I love all of the different laughs in the world. Be kind, be unique, and have the dang slice of chocolate cake if that makes you happy.

I was born and raised in the smallest of towns in Southwest Virginia. A town that is extraordinarily active, yet a town that is like it's very own little mini Bible belt. My dad was Baptist, my mom pentecostal, and I'm paranormal. I would venture to say it is somewhat of a family trait. One that is met with equal acceptance and curiosity as much as it is met with skepticism. Individually and collectively so much has been experienced and witnessed at times to such a degree that one might wonder how on earth there is room for doubt. I dont have all the answers, I do not have it all figured out. Im as human as everyone else relying heavily many mornings on a lot of coffee and a little Jesus. In fact, I can't decide what I want for dinner most days. One constant is I cannot go a single day without chocolate. Pour a cup of coffee, or a little tea and whiskey and join me in my confessions of a haunted freak.

  1. Oh this is a good one for me! I need constant reminders – Human connection, while it can difficult, is worth everything🙂 I’m going to my parents tonight, and am excited to see them and hang out with my little sister and find out how her week was.
