It’s 3 am and I’m still awake writing this blog. Peppa pepp A Roni nothing compares to you. Come on, Vogue. I do my little turn on the catwalk. Random old-school lyric mashups in my insomniac brain. Lyrical genius is not on my resume and is not a productive insomnia situation but it is what it is. I find myself often singing the pepperoni bit when I snack on them. I blame my echo dot I play random music while in the kitchen now, it was a definite win to put it in the kitchen versus elsewhere in the house. It makes the monotony of dishes and cleaning and cooking and laundry, somewhat better.

Nothing like busting a move while busting out a meal. I feel for my children as my dance moves have surely scarred them almost as much as my taste in music. I once tried to get my kids and the nieces and nephews to loosen up and dance and have a little fun. I put on music and started dancing only to be dissed by a group of 5-8-year-olds. They did not dance they looked slightly scared and simultaneously amused as they looked from me to each other and all with a silent understanding walked away. I found it quite hilarious.
I used to purposely try and embarrass my daughter dancing in the car, it didn’t work. Now nothing phases this girl. She ended up taking that as a lesson not to care what other people think and she never looked back. Accidental parenting win is what that is called. They are always learning from us even if we don’t realize it and moments we think are no big deal can end up staying with them. I take pride in the fact that both of my children are open-minded and loving people. I can not take credit for how smart they are, but maybe the commonsense they have comes from me.

Did you ever think you would see the day that commonsense and empathy were superpowers? Empathy is considered an ability now, we used to all be empathetic but it seems that society is losing it’s conscience more and more and I hope that changes tide with the younger generation. Commonsense still exists but among far less than it once did. I wonder if we dumbed ourselves down, did we take away our critical thinking skills with so much technology and answers at our fingertips? Just google it. Maybe I should google it. Doesn’t technology make us smarter? Not really I have seen 2-year-olds master a tablet. The people who create the technological advancements, sure they are smart, but someone making the tech for you doesn’t trickle down into your intelligence somehow. I dont claim to be intellectually abundant, but God did bless me with discernment, and some hella good commonsense. Also, empathy and a sense of humor. I have also been blessed with an abundance of insomnia as you can well see. Goodnight to you all and to you all a goodnight.
