Hope Is Not Lost, Just Misplaced.

I’ve been getting this message over and over for days now. I decided since it was so adamant that I should share it. I’m convinced that somewhere out there someone else needs to hear this. These messages are timeless and find us at just right the time, whether it be today or next year. So, what all does that mean? Let’s dive into it and find out.

All hope is not lost, just misplaced. While some people use those terms interchangeably it is not exactly the same. For something to be truly lost it can not be recovered, it will be gone for good. When we misplace something it can be found again and is only temporarily missing. It is important when we feel lost to remember that we are just misplaced.

That goes for a lot of things, maybe even trust in others. Sometimes we place too much trust or faith or hope in others and they misuse it. It isn’t as if those feelings are gone forever we may be guarded but we are capable of trusting and loving others again. I feel like it is important to note that we can expect too much from others and that is why they end up letting us down. It comes down to realizing that ultimately we are responsible for ourselves. It isn’t someone else’s job to love us enough so that we don’t need to love ourselves.

Hope is similar because it is a feeling and thought we hold within ourselves and others may not define it the same way as we do. Emotions and feelings are somewhat left for individual interpretation. Just ask 10 people what love is to them, how does it feel to them? And you will likely get 10 different answers. It is important not to take others opinions and beliefs personally especially when they differ from our own. It is something people argue about a lot wanting others to see things their way. The truth is our interpretation our differences are what make us human beings so beautiful.

There is something to celebrate in individuality and yet togetherness. The fact that we are so resilient, that regardless of circumstances we are capable of rising up and still becoming someone who is devastatingly amazing. Don’t be so hard on yourself, someone out there probably finds you inspiring in some way or other.

Just trying counts for a lot. Beautiful castles weren’t built in a day or a week. Neither are beautiful and successful lives. One thing that has come up repeatedly for months is the message that we are the only ones who can give ourselves permission. If you are searching for it in other people, you’re going to be very disappointed. It isn’t that others don’t want you to succeed, but they don’t want it as much as you. No one will ever want it as much as you do for yourself. By nature we are all somewhat self-absorbed. If you’re looking for permission to go after your dreams, go look in the mirror.

Another important thing that some of us really need to hear is only we know what we can do. Other people have no idea what it is we are capable of. Asking others only does one thing and that is planting the seed of doubt. Doubt is a killer of motivation, of determination, of hope, faith, and ultimately success. Sometimes we don’t succeed in the way we had originally intended or maybe we don’t do it the first time maybe it takes the 1,000th time. If you want it bad enough you’ll dust yourself off and get up after the 999th time and hit it with equal strength and determination that you had on the 1st try and you’ll give that 1,000th try everything you have.

Nothing is ever a failure, the only true failure we have is not trying at all. When you don’t try or give up on what you are doing you are guaranteeing failure. Sometimes we need to take a break and that’s okay. Breaks are not the same as giving up, but like a year or months is more than a break and are just escape. Maybe you have forgotten why you wanted something in the first place and if you decide that it isn’t for you anymore that is okay, but if some part of you no matter how small still has that burning desire then fight for it. Fires don’t burn in the soul that need to be ignored. They’re there to drive you and guide you and push you. Keep going, keep trying and believe in yourself when no one else does because you decide what you can do and no one else. You are amazing and worthy and capable and you can do it. All hope was not lost, it was only misplaced.

I was born and raised in the smallest of towns in Southwest Virginia. A town that is extraordinarily active, yet a town that is like it's very own little mini Bible belt. My dad was Baptist, my mom pentecostal, and I'm paranormal. I would venture to say it is somewhat of a family trait. One that is met with equal acceptance and curiosity as much as it is met with skepticism. Individually and collectively so much has been experienced and witnessed at times to such a degree that one might wonder how on earth there is room for doubt. I dont have all the answers, I do not have it all figured out. Im as human as everyone else relying heavily many mornings on a lot of coffee and a little Jesus. In fact, I can't decide what I want for dinner most days. One constant is I cannot go a single day without chocolate. Pour a cup of coffee, or a little tea and whiskey and join me in my confessions of a haunted freak.
